Networking

We often ask ourselves if networking really works.  Well, if you expect it to work, it will, and if you don't expect it to work, it usually doesn't.  In many cases, you only get out what you put in.  So, if you make an effort to talk to others about what you do - as well as taking an interest in their field of expertise, then they're more likely to build up a rapport with you, which over time can generate leads and business.

The above film, is for a Renfrewshire based networking group, where a vast array of different businesses (including accountants, photographers, retail consultants, designers, videographers, hypnotherapists etc) all attend, and the reason they attend - to network, to seek potential business opportunities and to 'sell' themselves to others, just like you.  It's as simple as that.

Many businesses out there, go on the premise of word of mouth or referrals.  However, if you interact with other like-minded businesses, you can make business networking work for you, build up your business contacts and expand your potential pull of networking contacts.

It usually takes time for the effects of networking to really kick in.  Having one or two 'talks' with business people, will not necessarily result in you getting work from them right away.  However, if you build up a rapport, they are more likely to recommend you to others, or indeed use you themselves.

Why?  Well, because you've established a connection with them.  They (by now) will know what you can do for them/and or their associates, they will know what you have to offer and they will know (more often than not) what you are capable of doing for them, or others etc.

Whichever network route you take, you'll soon find out if it's for you, and whether or not you wish to proceed with it.  Bear in mind, networking isn't everyone's cup of tea.  Some people feel socially inept or anxious putting themselves 'out there', but the more you try and the more you do, the more comfortable you'll become with it.

Some people who attend networking events, are there to boast their ego, sell themselves only - as opposed to listening to what others have to offer, and generally annoy people, this doesn't happen often, but it can happen.  Just the same as people attending networking events as a social gathering and wanting some gossip.  These are the rare few, but there will always be someone.

One note of caution - nobody likes a pushy sales person, so don't do the 'hard sell'.  Having witnessed this first hand several times, it never works, it only alienates you and gets people's backs up.

Networking may, or may not be for you, but as the old saying goes - nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The importance of promoting.

No matter if you are a sole trader, a private business or a large corporation, you still need to promote your business.  Granted, some businesses have more money than others to spend, but the principal is still the same.

Above is a short promotional film we produced for a networking group based in Inverclyde, Scotland, of which many businesses are members.  It's short, sharp and to the point, and conveys exactly what the group has to offer.  Many of our other business films convey exactly the same message.  Keep the length down and the content interesting.

With videos amounting to over 90% of the worlds internet traffic, your 53 times more likely to be higher ranked on search engines and as such, your brand awareness and business credibility will increase.

With the popularity of social media now playing a large part in how businesses showcase their products and services, videos are more important than ever.  Video marketing is only going to get bigger, stronger, more important and more influential to you and your business, your credibility and your brand.

As human beings, we absorb more information visually than we do by reading.  Therefore, an informative video for your business, will be more effective than print or brochures.

Not only can a well produced video be a cost effective marketing tool, but it can also provide immeasurable benefits to a business, including: Marketing benefits, increased brand visibility, connect with your customers more and showcase/highlight a product or service to name but a few.

With the ways to access information changing, getting your message out there can be tricky.  For example, did you know, you can incorporate videos into your Facebook and Twitter messages...?

It's not rocket science, it's a business tool, which you can easily obtain for your business!

If you're wanting to increase your brand awareness by utilising business films (to name but a few or our services)...then drop us an email to info@magifilms.co.uk or keep up to date with everything Magi on our website and social media outlets!

New Magi Films Logo

Branding has been and always will be, an important part in marketing a company.  That's why, we have decided to update our own branding.

It's important for companies to change with the times, to adapt to new technologies and its competitors, and to maintain all that is synonymous with the company.

Some companies have changed their logo and branding so much, that people no longer know what it stands for or who they are.  Whereas companies such as Coca Cola, MGM and Rolls Royce, have always kept the same idea/premise in its simplicity and morphed it into an updated version.

By changing our own logo and branding, we aim to maintain our ideaology, our company ethos and our high quality of craftsmanship.

Choosing a new company logo isn't as easy as it looks!  We went through various versions, different texts, different colours, various formats and eventually we arrived at our new logo (above).

We feel our new logo is unique, striking and says exactly what Magi Films stands for and we are proud to unveil and use it as our new company logo.

We hope you enjoy it and embrace it as much as we have!

The Art of Copywriting

Magi Films Copywriting

COPYWRITING...what is copywriting?

Well, it's the subtle method (and sometimes obvious method) used by companies, advertisers (and individuals) for the purposes of advertising, marketing or selling something.  It is in fact, the process of writing copy - e.g. writing text.

The intention of writing copy, is to persuade someone to buy products or influence their beliefs for a certain company.

The art of copywriting itself can be used to great effect, whether it's for web content, taglines, online advertising, radio commercials, press releases, brochures etc.  However, it can also have a negative impact, if the wording is wrong, the spelling is incorrect and so forth.

Many people confuse scriptwriting with copywriting.

Scriptwriting is a different discipline and requires far more time to elaborate prose and ideas.

Copywriting, is usually something which is short, sharp and to the point - not always (such as information brochures), but in most cases.  Copywriting is the point of contact many companies and individuals have with potential clients, so first impressions count.  If you have advertising material in the public domain and your wording, premise, idea of what you are trying to get across is lost - then your marketing is almost redundant, and it'll probably have cost you a pretty penny with not much to show for an end result!

Copywriters can work as a creative team or individual.  Many copywriters are freelance, thus are brought in by companies and outside agencies to work for them, on a current project.

The copywriter(s) has ultimate responsibility for the advertisment's verbal or textual content, which often includes receiving the copy information from the client.  The copywriter is responsible for telling the story, crafting it in such a way that it resonates with the viewer/reader, ideally producing an emotional response.

Many copywriters will work in conjunction with the marketing department of a company or indeed a creative/art department - depending on the organisation/product.  So, when you see a car commercial billboard or advertisment, you can bet your bottom dollar, that a copywriter has worked closely with the art department, the advertising agency and the car manufacturer to showcase and sell the car.

Copywriters will mostly work from a 'concept', which is provided to them by the client.  The client will then require them to come up with ideas and work away to fine tune that idea, which in turn they can use for promotional purposes.

As the old adage goes - 'It pays to advertise!', but bear in mind, you need to have a good copywriter in the first place!

The Importance of Video Marketing for business.

Magi Films Video Marketing

In the last few years, the use of video marketing has grown from a few businesses occasionally including it on their website, to an essential, competitive tool that can streamline operations and quickly promote a brand.  Video marketing has taken over marketing in a big way, and since 2011 it has gained momentum and has started a video revolution!  A key factor, is the popularity and accessibility of video sharing websites, such as YouTube and Facebook.

Leading companies of all sizes are embracing this shift and making video a central part of their online marketing campaign.  With an abundance of content pushed to consumers and employees every day, a well crafted, succinct video allows your brand or message to stand out from the crowd.

Video marketing is going to get bigger, more important and be more influential to you, your credibility, your business and your brand, no matter what your position is or product is.  If you need to reach an audience, especially in large numbers and via online methods, then video marketing is the right marketing campaign to adopt.

Why should companies use video to showcase and highlight products? Well these statistics speak for themselves!

  •  Over 90% of internet traffic is video.
  •  Videos are a cost effective way to market and showcase products, services, training material etc.
  •  Videos increase brand awareness and credibility.
  •  Videos increase your chance of being higher ranked with search engines (such as Google) by 53 times.
  •  Video is 6 times more effective than print.
  •  65% of the world's population watch online videos everyday.

Not only can a well produced video be a cost-effective marketing tool, it can provide immeasurable benefits to a company.  These include:Marketing benefits • Increase brand visibility through increased exposure online • Increase traffic to your website • Connect with your customers more • Showcase or highlight a product or service to name but a few.

Always remember to make your video engaging!  This might be stating the obvious, but you'd be surprised!

As human beings, we absorb more information visually than we do by reading.  Therefore, an informative video for your company, will be more effective than print or brochures.

We are surrounded by the visual medium, whether it's TV, movies, online computer/laptops or mobile devices.  The key thing about video is that it can involve several senses at the same time, from visual to auditory, to sense memory.  If you have an imagination, then video producers can influence how you think and feel.

Make your videos increase your reach and grow your brand for you.  If you are using a well planned video on your website, you’ll be able to connect with your audience, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year almost as if you were there!

The writing is literally on the wall, video marketing is the future of marketing online.  From experts who are just starting out to veteran internet marketers who are launching their next and greatest product, using video marketing to promote yourself will give you a boost to your business.
